This descriptive diagnostic study presents the state of self-esteem in nursing students from the Universidad Andina del Cusco, in relation to self, social, home, university, as important factors for a harmonious development in mental health. To determine the level of self-esteem, the Coopersmith inventory adapted to students by Chahuayo and Díaz (Arequipa) was applied. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used considering 54 female students. The relevant results of the research translate into that almost half of the students present levels of self-esteem in average and low level, whose implication requires a remedial tutorial intervention, since this group of people are insecure, dependent, express themselves with fear, low tolerance for frustration, and establish few or inadequate social relationships
